In this case, it's a stopper pistol.

(click ad for closer look)
The copy starts: China holds the current world record of executions with executing 1,010 people of 1,591 confirmed executions worldwide (the language is awkward because this is a translated version of the ad via BBDO in Hungary). Amnesty International has been all over the People's Republic in the year leading up to next month's Olympics—though the organization says they had nothing to do with these wonderfully art-directed award-winning AI Beijing ads. All these examples just go to show how easy (and fun!) it is to combine killing and sports into a tidy little print ad.

Amnesty International is great at stats like executions but they are subjective and misleading. So next to the figures of executions why not show the figures of the murders the perps did. Even better, let's "estimate" the number of murders the perps were responsable for like the way AI "estimates" the number of executions.

Whoops !!! I forgot with the last comment... yes the ad is funny in a macabre way. But like I pointed out, AI is twisted to begin with. Regards ranter !!

Subjective and misleading they are not. AI does not concern itself with crime stats or victims - there's other clubs for that. AI's business is human rights in the relationship between citizens and authorities. Everyone knows that - even pro-death-penalty people who in spite of this continue to play on cheap emotion by trying to smear the messenger. The whole death penalty is an issue of cheap emotion so that's hardly surprising.
Great ads, as always.

The arguments for and against the death penalty aside, not all executed people are killed for being murderers. Many are put to death for committing such "crimes" as being activists, political opposition, homosexuality, drug use or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Come on cd junior, think before you spout.

This looks like part of the same award-winning campaign that got an agency in trouble (supposedly it was a fake too).
